This series of collages is titled 'Ways of Knowing' and created in reflection to undertaking practice led research in the arts. The series explores the tensions I have experienced between 'knowing' as an academic and 'knowing' as an artist, and how these two 'ways of knowing' collide.
These images are digital collages created from old academic journals, hand written notes, academic books referenced in my work and found images, all evidence of me trying to 'know' during my research. I collage by assembling a layer by hand, scanning it into my computer, then working on it on Photoshop. This process of digitally collaging is a process to me. I believe 'knowing' isn't separate from life. Like collaging, it too is a process and one that is in constant generation and assemblage.
Exhibited in November 2015 at Slade School of Arts, UCL as part of a research event Against Delivery.
