Potted History: True Colours at The Turnpike [2018]
True Colours based in Leigh, Greater Manchester, support adults with autism and learning disabilities, working closely with their families and carers. During October to December 2018, I collaborated with The Turnpike's learning team to I facilitate a pilot inclusive studio programme comprising of three workshops at The Turnpike.
During these workshops, people from True Colours were supported to visit a pottery exhibition by Lindsey Mendick, from which we then explored pottery and sculpting techniques. The group then created a mixture of traditional pots alongside creative sculptures that explored personal narratives like trains, video games, food and memories.
Members of the group then curated a small display at The Turnpike featuring interpretation.
