Slowly 10 is a digital curatorial residency by KoProjects with a focus on ideas around slow curation/exhibition, temporality and engagement. The purpose of this project is to create a 10-day digital programme that will be distributed through a daily email to the KoProjects mailing list/social media, featuring one artwork, text, reference etc for a period of 10 days. The intention is for singular works/ideas to be given time and space for consideration individually whilst also partaking in an overarching curatorial premise.
I curated an exhibition titled 'What You Don't Know'. This exhibitions title deliberately disrupts and subverts this, providing a point of departure for these artists to articulate qualities about learning disability art audiences may not be familiar with, or perhaps, have encountered before. During this online exhibition audiences encountered different learning disabled artists, organisations and their supporters practicing across UK and Europe. As well as sharing their artwork, some of those exhibiting have also contributed insights into their studios and process.
By bringing together articulations of the practice as seen through the lenses of these key artists, practitioners, researchers and organisations, this online exhibition aims to platform a field of work which is still often overlooked in contemporary arts, illuminating what is a unique and growing terrain of practice.
