"We are holding a one-day symposium reprising the conversations begun at the ArtWorks 2013 conference, Changing the Conversation. There will be presentations from the exciting pilot projects commissioned after the conference, as well as plenty of opportunities for discussion and debate between artists, academics, employers and commissioners."

Yesterday I was invited to speak at the Artworks symposium, sharing the outcomes of the development grant I worked on with PRIA Arts.   The development grant supported us to create 'PAC: Participatory Arts Connect'.  The PAC aims t to be a national network linking practice and training within the participatory arts sector, supporting students from HEI's to connect with 'real time' participatory arts projects across the UK.

Including the PAC, seven projects presented their findings and we also heard from Artworks pathway project leaders.  It was great to hear about participatory practice taking place across the UK, and particularly from projects facing similar barriers to the pilot I completed.  It seems that to simply offer participatory arts opportunities for students in Higher Educational settings is simply not enough and presents a growth area.  More work needs to be done in developing safe and supported ways for students to feel able to take up on opportunities.  To be continued!

You can now read case studies of these grants.

Really pleased to announce that myself and project partner Melaneia Warwrick of Pria Arts have been awarded a development grant from 'Artworks' a Paul Hamlyn Foundation initiative.

Over the next few months I will be working on a pilot project called PAC: Participatory Arts Connect.  This pilot project aims to develop a scaleable model for a national network to link participatory practice and training in the UK.  My role will prodominetly be developing and building the website to platform the network, as well as developing partnerships with potential organisations and HEI's.

For updates you can view my PHF Artworks profile here, and I shall be updating my blog from time to time.
